When is World Cancer Day in 2023?
World Cancer Day is celebrated all over the world on February 4, its purpose is to encourage the prevention of cancer among people and early detection and treatment of a major disease like cancer. World Cancer Day was first announced by the Union for International Cancer Control in 2008, which included the promotion and support of the goal of reducing deaths from this disease.
History of World Cancer Day
The International Cancer Control Association first celebrated the first World Cancer Day in 1933 in the city of Geneva, Switzerland. To save millions of people from dying every year from a major disease like cancer, World Cancer Day is celebrated in a way to raise public awareness, educate people about this disease, and calls upon the government and individuals to take action against this disease worldwide.
To explain this was the purpose of World Cancer Day. In 2014 the World Cancer Declaration focused on Goal 5 which was related to reducing the stigma and dispelling the myths about cancer.
Current cancer situation: World Cancer Day
If we talk about the present, about 76 lakh people around the world die of cancer-like diseases, mostly about 40 lacks are in the age group of 30 to 69 years. Therefore, according to the demand of the time, the government has to develop practical politics to deal with the disease like awareness about this disease among the people through World Cancer Day.
According to the survey, the estimates also show that by the coming 2025, the number of premature deaths due to cancer will be 60 lakhs. The World Health Organization believes that if the number of deaths due to cancer is reduced by 25 percent by 2025, then about 1.5 million lives can be saved every year.
